18/KIT. Amplifier V2

In this time, I have decided to re-purpose one of the speaker boxes from December. It was claimed during work, where the owner lends the speaker for free. It was an 8-ohm speaker, all housed in a wooden case, and has spring tabs for connections. To make the project by a snap, I have decided to use one of the kits from Velleman, the VM114 7w amplifier. Combine that with the mischievous parts, such as a 1-gang box with ears for an enclosure, and you got a complete mono amplifier.

The amplifier was powered through mains, but it uses the power supply inside, to convert that 120VAC into a 12VDC, which the amplifier uses. It uses an amplifier chip, the TDA2003, which will help amplify the signal from a sound source, and outputs it to the speaker. It also has a 10k ohm potentiometer (not supplied with the kit), to adjust the amplifier volume to get the right level of decibels.

As mentioned, everything is mounted onto the giant speaker box, since this provided a structure for the circuitry. The junction box will be another enclosure for the circuit; where it was then mounted to the speaker box. That way, the circuit will not be completely exposed.

The problems with the amplifier are that there is feedback noise while it was turned on. And touching the jack-which leads to the input connections, makes more of these sounds. Thankfully, the potentiometer is here to lower it, though it decreases the level, and every time a sound source is active, the noise is being replaced completely.

However, even with these problems, it can be solved, and I would recommend this kit for any mono amplifiers, as this kit itself can deliver through the big speaker!
