37. LED Desk sign

This is the project that I almost forgot, a thing that looks simplistic, but it is a great way to display/identify yourself during work as people walk by and look at you without any confusion.

This is one of the examples during the year 2015, as a school assignment in High school. This is built for one of the teachers, which in this case, and looking at the pictures, it's for the First Sargent. This desk sign uses the red LEDs in parallel, similar to the one used for the EXIT signs.

In these pictures, the leads that were once PCB strip, it was cut in half. That way, the rows of LEDs will light up each section. Once the wiring was placed for the leads, it was then soldered to the USB cable, so that it will receive a steady 5 volts to the circuit.

The body of the desk sign project uses acrylic as the majority of the frame. That is because it's transparent, so it can be suited for lights. To make the words more visible when the light is turned on, the frosted layer is used as a way to identify the person and will diffuse the light, so that it will make the words look like it was glowing.

The desk sign also uses red plastics, formed as a secondary identifier of the person. In this case, it will be the teacher's rank. All of this was done through the engraver, where the software for making words was adobe illustrator, and the program for the engraver was used in it.

Now, looking at the pictures, I know it's a bit too clear, but it's for the LEDs to shine in, and thus, light up the desk sign.
